There’s a hot little joint on the Eastside of town that brews almond milk cappuccinos to die for and is run by a young woman named Jessica who got her start as a professional jam maker.
Boss shouldn’t trudge East for convenience or quiet – parking is difficult and there’s a promise of long lines at peak hours. But boy, if Boss can hold a conversation while waiting for order-at-the-bar service, the jam-stuffed brioche French toast and brown rice and poached egg bowls will feel more than worth it.
The key here is to eat early on weekdays, because Silver Lake hipsters wake up late and local Los Feliz celebs come here post-9am workout. Beat the scene and SQIRL feels reminiscent of a cosy library café, untouched and undiscovered by the masses.
