Legend has it, what is now known as Olive Street in downtown Los Angeles, was formerly called Faith Avenue. But in the late 1800’s, no one was moving west to live “on faith.” And so, Faith Ave was renamed, only to be remembered more than a century later by downtown’s 140-seat contemporary American restaurant, Faith + Flower.
Faith + Flower is handsome and versatile – pleasing for weekend brunches, evenings out, private parties (large or small), and those with the wherewithal to escape LA Live following a show at the Staples Center. Last week, the restaurant debuted what every downtown suit needs – a three-course “Quick Fixe” lunch menu for $18, designed to be consumed in 30-40 minutes.
The cocktail program is impressive. If Boss is a show off, suggest the off-menu Leap of Faith cocktail – presented by mixologist Michael Lay, who ignites absinthe and encourages you to inhale the vapor and take a swig before exhaling. It’ll go straight to Boss’ bloodstream, or yours if you’re feeling reckless on lunch hour.
