You (1) and your team (+8) did some "top notch" work on that project last month and Boss (+1) (along with some other Bosses (+4)) want to take you all out to celebrate this weekend. Significant others are welcome (+14). But figuring out how to entertain 28 people at once wasn't on your radar. It's already Friday.
Then it hits you...Boom(town). While it may seem hard to stand out in the growing multitudes of craft breweries in and around the Arts District (see Angel City, Iron Triangle and Mumford), Boomtown has what many others lack: a well-curated hangout space. Shuffle board, foosball, ping-pong, pool, darts and a History of the World Part II chess set. Add a heavy sprinkle of communal and private seating areas and some fine wall murals and voila, you have your Sunday.
What's more, there's a gamut of beer options and not surprisingly, the beers are very, very good... Just try and keep Boss from showing off and tasting the whole rail - one Christmas party a year is more than enough. Serenity now. Serenity now... Anyways, Cindy from the copy room can enjoy Boomtown's Mic Czech Pilsner while she tells you over and over again about how it reminds her of the six weeks she spent studying abroad in Hamburg. Roger from HR can enjoy the Limelight NW IPA. He's heard a lot of people talking about IPA's but hasn't actually tried one yet and this one sounds fun. He is so distracted by the very tasty tropical guava and grapefruit flavors he hardly realizes is 7% ABV before he passes out in the giant heart sculpture in the back corner of the playroom. You did good tipping off your boy Jermaine from legal to the Aliso, which in your opinion is the best beer Boomtown is offering. Coming in strong at 9.7% ABV the Aliso has layers of aged flavor that make it complex, but a great combination of light citrus and heavy malts that keep it a smooth winter seasonal ale.
Boomtown is located on Jackson street (the spot you used to park your car at 3 am to get into that van that took you to that rave), which is on the forefront of the Arts District expansion.
Tell all 24 guests to head to Boomtown and stop worrying - everyone will like it.
